My Camino Postponed until September

well, am ever so close to Urun, but I’ve had to postpone my trip to raise more funds. the decision to do this was very sudden and I now realize that I do need more time as I begin to crunch numbers together… but being halfway there is better than nothing! I am currently in the Italian Maritime Alps, and watching a huge storm forming far away in the distance… rumbling thunder and flashes of lightning; a weeping willow sways in the wind, the lemon trees and grape vines ready and waiting for some much needed rain. I’ll keep you all posted with the latest on my progress!!!

and the journey begins!!!!

OMG! it’s here!!!!! I leave for Spain!!!! thank you everyone for your support and helping make this happen! I will take photos and update my blog about my 700 mile trek along Spain’s northern coast as often as possible!!! Weather man says my travel companion and I will hit LOTS of rain which I dont really mind seeing as its a rare commodity these days in San Jose! Do continue to buy my art so I can finish the whole course!!!! :p I will still be “live” for the next few days, finishing up any web projects I have, buying the last of my equipment in Spain and making sure everything is set for the walk!!!! I expect to finish my walk by the end of september, money permitting! I still have a few more drawings to put up for sale and I promise printable merchandise before I step away from my PC on the camino!!!! =)

Water dreams

A ticket to ride……

“I’ve got one hand in my pocket…. and the other one’s holding a plane ticket!”
I also have my paperwork ready so i can become an official PEREGRINO!
Thanks again to Play it Again Sports and Bob Unplugged who in turn generously donated my trekking shoes and the backpack as well as numerous other items! My list is still long but thanks to those of you who contributed towards my trip by either donating money, buying my “stuff” and hiring me for my design services I am able to get everything done before I leave. I know i have kept you all waiting or my artwork and i apologize for the delays but they will be up shortly! It’s art, it takes a while to create but I am pleased with the results! I also opened a cafe’ press store so you will be able to purchase prints, t-shirts and mugs as well as other things from my designs! i am so very excited! I still need funds to cover my expenses during the walk so DO purchase my items, hire my services and buy my art!!!

Other things i am still looking to purchase are:

1. A digital Voice recorder to take notes, record conversations for my book!

2. an MP3 player, used, to keep me company

3. An artists’ journal for my doodles, paintings and poems while I go along my route! (thank you A. for the wonderful mini watercolor set! My doodles would be incomplete without it!  )

If you have any of these at a good price do let me know since my hiking gear is already super expensive (THANK YOU again Tom!!! You have been a life-saver!!!) so i don’t want to spend too much on these things! Again, I am still taking on new clients for design work, especially logos and Graphics, so if you or anyone you know is in need please do contact me! Turn around time for a logo is on average 2-3 days so there’s still PLENTY of time

This walk means the world to me… it will be a tremendous inspiration for my art and my book which in turn i hope will be of even greater inspiration to you! Follow your dreams, do the things you really want to do and LIVE life to the fullest! Our time on this earth is short enough… embrace every moment as if it where your last! Don’t say “I want to… I wish I… Why didn’t I…” if you’re going to regret not doing something then you should have done it the first time!!!

In order to make this walk possible, here’s the list of  the most important items I will be needing for my trip:

THE LIST:

1. BACKPACK: This is perhaps one of the most important items. A lightweight backpack tailored to a female body frame: 152cm (5.0″), 96lbs (I cannot cary more than 10% of my body weight on my back, so I will need something that does not have any meaningless built-in extras like too many zippers, clasps and straps…). must have a waterproof cover incorporated into it. Max. capacity 35 liters.

2. TREKKING SHOES: I’m a size 6 US, but I imagine a size 6.5 would be better(if you’re an expert please feel free to advise!). Lightweight, rigid sole, breatheable, water-resistant/proof, easy dry (no suedes or leather therefore)

3. COMPACT SLEEPING BAG: warm for those chilly Atlantic nights, compact, small, foldable to micro proportions and LIGHTWEIGHT.

4. SELF-INFLATING MINI MATTRESS: compact, lightweight. important for nights when it will rain while I sleep.

5. SANDALS: size, 6 womens, similar design to “Lizards, for when feet are too blistered to wear shoes (ouch!), or when trekking shoes are wet

6. 1/2 LITER WATER BOTTLE, x2 lightweight, collapsible, mold-resistant plastic

7. PLANE TICKET:  you’re an airline or travel agent interested in donating a return (open return date preferable) flight from San Francisco to San Sebastian, Spain… this would be a saving grac, otherwise all monies recieved via the donate now button or through the purchase of my artwork will go towards the ticket, my food budget, emergency medical services/care and the occasional nights sleep in hostels when in dire straits.

1. MINI/LIGHTWEIGHT MP3 PLAYER WITH HEADPHONES: it’s a looooong walk my friend….. =p Used is fine, just in working condition and LIGHT! LIGHT! LIGHT!

2. HEAD LAMP/FLASHLIGHT: super lightweight with headstrap/headband design for night trekking/blog/book writing!!!

3. MICROFIBER FAST DRYING TOWEL
